Our school recently hosted an incursion visit from Kaboom Percussion! This event showcased the power of music and creativity. It was fantastic to see the students captivated and inspired by the creative and innovative sounds produced by instruments handcrafted by the performers. From the tin can cimbalom to the angled marimba and portable recycled drum kits made from buckets, cans and PVC pipes.  

The showcase demonstrated how even the simplest objects can be transformed into musical instruments. This interactive performance not only engaged our students but also showcased the science of sound production and the importance of recycling and reusing materials in creating their own music.  

In addition to the showcase, our Year 5 and 6 students had the opportunity to participate in engaging workshops led by Kaboom Percussion. These workshops provided essential skills development in a fun and immersive way. Using simple instruments like buckets and drumsticks, the students learned and performed pieces together, delving into the realms of rhythm, teamwork, structure, musicality and improvisation. These hands-on workshops fostered a deeper understanding of music while encouraging the students to explore their creativity and collaborate with their peers.
