ANZAC Ceremony
The ANZAC Commemorative Ceremony was once again an outstanding tribute to the men and women who founded the ANZAC tradition over 100 years ago on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey and then on the Western Front in Europe. It was great to see so many residents from Brightwater, parents and relatives attending the ceremony. Having the commemorative ceremony at the end of the day allowed more parents to attend. Your support for the ANZAC tradition and the school is greatly valued. I would like to thank Miss Mercer, Miss O’Connor, Mrs Butler, the choir, the Year 6 students and everyone who assisted in making the ceremony such a memorable experience.
Joondalup Kid Award
Arshia is a kind and sincere student who always assists teachers and her class mates. She always follows the school’s code of conduct, being a safe, respectful and responsible student. Arshia is a fantastic role model and a wonderful class member. Congratulations on being a great Joondalup Kid!
Maths Award
Isabelle is an enthusiastic mathematician who is always eager to share with the class. She loves to share her knowledge of place value and the way she solves addition equations. She recalls the attributes of 2D shapes and loves discovering shapes in the environment. Isabelle's enthusiasm for making maths discoveries is to be commended. You are a maths whiz!
Kiss and Drive
The campus are receiving an increasing number of complaints from families who are trying to access the Kiss and Drive, only to find that cars have parked in this area and have left their car. The Kiss and Drive is not a place to park your car and walk onto the school grounds. The campus are working on strategies to alleviate congestion in this area. If you are a parent who uses the Kiss and Drive bays please be courteous of others.

Pet Dogs on School Grounds
Many students walk to school and often families may walk with the family dog. As a campus we would like families to continue to walk to school and bring their dog if they wish. Here is a small reminder of our guidelines;
- Dogs need to be on a leash and controlled by an adult at all times.
- Be courteous, do not take your dog near students and other parents as some people are fearful or allergic to dogs.
- Ensure your dog is calm and not barking at all times and in any situation.
- Dogs are not to be taken inside any buildings – Classrooms, Wet Areas, Office.
- If you are not following the guidelines, you will be asked to remove your dog from the school premises.
Belridge Secondary College
The link below has information on the Open Day for Belridge Secondary College. Belridge Secondary College will be conducting a one hour guided tour at 9.00am on Wednesday 22nd May 2019 for parents of all prospective Year 4, 5 and 6 students. The aim of this tour is to give parents the opportunity to view their College at work. The campus have again registered for the Woolworths Earn and Learn program. Between 1 May and 25 June 2019 please collect as many stickers as you can. (For every $10 spent at Woolworths you get a sticker.) The more stickers we receive the more resources we will be able to purchase. Please make sure your stickers have been placed on a sticker sheet (available from the office) and then place the sticker sheet inside of the box which is located outside of the administration building. Thank you for supporting our schools.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our wonderful mothers a Happy Mother’s Day on Sunday!
These students have produced some amazing work and we would love to share it with you.
Take a look at the Mothers Day cards that the children from Moorditj created.
If you notice any suspicious activity on School Grounds, please contact Security on 9264 4771 or the Police on 131 444.
On Friday 12th April Joondalup Schools came together to commemorate ANZAC Day. ANZAC Day is the day on which we remember all Australians who served and died in war. The Year six councillors lead us in a beautiful service which featured four songs from the Choir.
Students from each year level were involved in laying a wreath. Thank you to Miss Mercer, Mrs Sweet, Mr Critchley and Mrs Butler for helping to organise and present such a lovely service.
On Monday, 6th May, students from rooms 4, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20 and ESC students attended the Adelindo Angklung workshop in the undercover area.
Pak Ferry and Ibu Yenny from the Adelindo group taught the students how to play the songs Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Happy Birthday, You Raise Me Up and Amazing Grace with the angklungs.
Ibu Yenny played the songs, I Still Call Australia Home, What a Wonderful World and an Indonesian song Manuk Dadali on the giant angklung. Chay of Room 13 played “Fur Elise” on the giant angklung.
The students have learned more skills to play the angklung by using different notes to synchronize with background music.
Ibu Mulyana would like to say a big thank you to Neil Knobbe, teachers, education assistants, and the school administration who helped her before, during and after the incursion.
Thank you to Pak Ferry and Ibu Yenny for teaching the students how to extend their ability to play the angklungs.
Well done students.
Ibu Mulyana
Room 15 have changed their Tinkering Table into a Lego Masters area. The children have sorted the Lego into colours and part types. They are now busy using their imagination to build and complete challenges. Our Tinkering Table is used as an area where children can engage in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) activities at the same time as encouraging social interaction and learning through play.
Miss Read.
Future Man or Woman
The students in Pre-Primary and Years 1 & 2 viewed the work of Paul Klee. Then working with the element of line created their own Future Man or Future Girl and coloured him/her with oil pastel.
